Albert Casper, 95, of Springfield, died at 12:13 a.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Albert was born April 27, 1909 in Springfield the son of Frank and Mary Walentukonis Casper in Springfield. He married Agnes Yanor in 1931 in Springfield; she preceded him in death in 1960. He later married Della M. Yanor Sears; she preceded him in death in 1980. Mr. Casper was a graduate of Springfield High School and Brown’s Business College. He worked in the Executive Offices of the C&IM railroad for 20 years. He then founded the Casper Real Estate and Insurance Agency in 1948. After his retirement in 1981 he turned the business over to his son, Don who is currently operating the business to this date.
He was a member of the Pol. K. of A. dance group, Lithuanian – American Club of Central Illinois and the Illini Country Club. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents and infant son: Ronald Wayne Casper in 1932. He is survived by one son: Donald W. (wife, Joan) Casper of Springfield; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and companion Mary Ann Wombwell of Springfield.
Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:15-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. Kevin Vann celebrant. KATHERINE WALENTUKONIS, 105, of Springfield, Il, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born Oct 2, 1894 in Braceville,(Grundey co.) Il. the daughter of Adam and Eva SHOUDIS YOUSKEVITCH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton WALENTUKONIS in 1966; and a daughter, Josephine CIKAS.
Mrs. Walentukonis was employed by the International Shoe Factory and retired from CIPS (Central Illinois Power Service) after 17 years of service. She was a resident of Springfield for most of her life. Survivors: a daughter, Mary M. WILSON of Springfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. RIVERTON – Services for John Anthony Kasper are being held at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home in Springfield, Illinois. Visitation on Friday, March 25 5-7 pm with funeral service on Saturday, March 26, at 1 pm.
John was born in Riverton, Ill. on July 5, 1934, to Theresa and Thomas Kasper, Sr. and passed away on March 18, 2011 after a brave battle with cancer.
John was a graduate of Riverton High School in 1953. He was successful not only professionally, but in family, service to community and in many lifelong friendships. His passions included aviation, hunting, gardening, history and sports. He has also volunteered in civil and children’s activities throughout his life. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather with big hugs and many animated stories to make us laugh. We will miss John dearly.
John is preceded in death by his Mother and Father and by his son Steven Kasper. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita Kasper, and his children: Kathy Kasper, David Kasper, Karen Ivey, Karla Games and Kristina Cox. John has 6 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Thomas Kasper and George Kasper.
